manchu
In a moment of madness I 'cleaned' my Pana V20 plasma using windex. (A bad habit from being able to use it on my older plasma which has real glass). I cleaned off quickly with water but it's left some dull areas where I assume the windex has stuffed up a coating on the screen or the plastic itself. It's not really noticeable when TV is on, but looks awful when it's off. Is there anything I can do...other than just live with it?
rocky500
I would not think Windex should effect it? Could it have been the rag or whatever you used to wipe it up. Get yourself some microfibre ones and try just a touch of distilled water and see how you go.
Guest Sime
It's why most TVs say not to use chemicals on the screen. I use a damp paper towel and a dry one to quickly dry it.
Full Range
The best cloth to use is a 450 GSM microfibre cloth barely moist with water on flat screens It's also best to dust the screen because heavily dusted screens will leave a dust residue when dry Try the above method to remove the windex or any other residue from the screen and cross your fingers that the chemical hasn't burnt the film on the screen I feel it's residue and or smudging - reason is you rub softly on the screen for fear if damaging it - and windex likes to be rubbed vigorously to clean and polish with a fine weave microfibre cloth Also windex evaporates quickly
CatsWiskas
I did this on my new imac screen once and it had the same affect as these have a thin antireflective coating on them as well, Smudged like buggery and looked awful. I eventually got it looking like new again but required a slightly wet polishing cloth as Full Range has mentioned and a little elbow grease. If your plasma has a glass covering then you will be fine I just wouldn't try this method on an LCD tv. Edited May 30, 2016 by CatsWiskas
betty boop
I tend to use a damp warm water soaked micro fibre cloth ... nothing special ... to clean off any grunge... then finish with a dry micro fibre cloth. seems to have worked well for all our tells macbook screens and the like over the years. hopefully things get sorted with your screen ... windex is a little bit of a cocktail though mostly "ammonia" or ammonium hydroxide http://www.whatsinsidescjohnson.com/us/en/brands/windex/windex-original-glass-cleaner what effects it might or might not have on the screen are hard to say without knows the screen material vs components of the cocktail and how they might react. probably why mostly its suggested to just use water
manchu
Thanks all. Will give a microfiber cloth a go.
