Hi All , this is my first post

I currently own a Denon 3805 receiver and a Denon 3910.

I am looking to buy speakers and am considering B&w 603 or 704 for my front speakers.

I did have a demo recently (not on the 3805) and the 704's sounded great.

Now my question , is the 3805 sufficient enought to drive the 704 ?

cheers

Hi Irishwombat,
Welcome to the forum.

The Denon 3805 will have enough power for the B&W 704's as long as you don't play it at extreme levels or have an extremely large room. Of course you will get better sound from a dedicated power amplifier. If you have a sub and run the front's as "small" and send the bass only to the sub, this can take a huge strain off the amplifier, this does defeat getting a good pair of floor standers though.

If you are in Sydney I am selling my Whatmough 303 signatures after a recent upgrade they are currently listed on ebay ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5871724693&rd=

I also sell Zu loudspeakers here; AudioSupermart (http://www.audiosupermart.com/store)

As far as power amplifiers goes, Rotel and NAD are always well recommended as a good upgrade, you should be able to get them for about $1000 . There are always good amplifiers available on the second hand market and they are reasonably bulletproof so you are unlikely to have problems.

If you want to spend a little more I sell some excellent digital amplifiers that deliver amazing clarity and detail. You can see some details on my website.

Visit your local specialist hifi store and see what they have on offer at the price you are willing to pay.
