i fired up my accuphase e202 yesterday and it didnt "click" before it charged up an then it gave a couple of small bang noises HUGE discharge into the right channel-luckily i had turned off the speaker switch wen the small bang happend it would have blown the speakers i could tell by the output meter on each channel-it was fine after about another 15seconds of this behaviour
its done it a couple of times an other times its fine-any ideas what it might be im a bit concerned

Sounds like you have a leaky capacitor somewhere. I assume the amp has some age on it? It's quite common for electrolytic caps to die after 15 years or so....usually accompanied by a black gooey discharge..........do not touch this stuff, it's rather toxic! If this is the case, it's generally repairable.

Are you sure the +red/-black wires running to/from that speaker to the amp are not touching in any way?
That will short your amp.

This probably exactly what I did wrong with my Meridian 105s the speaker inputs are so close together and the speaker connects are very fat I had to jam some cardboard between them to stop them touching but as one is not working now that is probably why :(
