Sherwood Newcastle

Any Sherwood Newcastle users about....

As I have another month at least before I move in to my new house.........I just keep looking around....

The Sherwood Newcastle R-965, looks like a pretty good unit...

From my investigations, SN is not huge here in Aus, but has a good following in the US..

This unit retails in the US for $US1,999.....and has got some raving reviews.

I am placing this up against the Denon AVR 3805....which in the US retails for $1,200.

In Aus, The Denon retails at $2,499 and the R-965 at $2,999.......and in Real Street Prices I have found the Denon for $2,100....and the R-965 for $2,200.....so there's nothin between them on Street Price.


Look forward to hearing any good bad stories.........!

One of the chaps from the other forum raves about an R965 he bought over a Denon 3805. More grunt he reckons (heavier too), but maybe not as many features. Depends what you're after :)

Yeah,

I reckon everyone has their favourites........as indeed everyone has their own taste.....

I assume, that within certain brackets, so long as you aren't that picky, one could be happy with a number of different units.....

ie. is there a huge difference between a Marantz SR7500, a Denon AVR3805, a NAD T773 or a Sherwood Newcastle R965....... :?


My investigations at this point is to see where the lines are drawn........I am assuming (without audition YET), that there may be a jump up to say a Cyrus, or an ARCAM, or an Integra research, but when you are in that field, that, then again, they would all be pretty classy, and it then comes down to your own preference.


Possibly, "any man or his dog" could tell the difference between any of the first listed, and any of the second listed, so there is a definate "Tier" there somewhere......?
