Just to stir some more tail wagging.
I bought a paramount picture studio pro-logic decoder from ebay USA for $40 bucks. Finally used it a couple of nites ago in my bedroom system.
Even being pro logic and quite a few years old.....did it blow me away or what.
fantastic...i had the sub on at 3/4 level volume and set rather high at xover..round 160 to compensate for my dvd players digital effects not being as good as a new amp,but when i plug the sub into the old..vintage even Paramount picture studio decoder...i had to back of the sub to about 1/4 volume level and reset the xover to under 100 hz because the damn old vintage decoder was that good.
I did a search on the decoder and found out it won the best new hometheatre device 2 years running when it first came out.....just goes to show...new aint always the way to go.
On another point...any one looking for an amp....try looking around for one of the old Yamaha top of the range pro logic amps...they still should have six to 1 inputs on them but you can get these for as little as $250...they were over a $1000 when new....and the amplification on these old amps are still better then the most new digital amps...just add a seperate DTS decoder to the amp and your still saving a few hundred bucks and getting a better sound than most of the new digital amps can give you.
