i'm about to get a tube amp and need some opinion on this product http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...me=STRK:MEWA:IT (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5735565269&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) are they allright for entry level or are they completely rubbish and save my money for a better one.

another amp i've looked at http://www.diyfidelity.com.au/product_info...&products_id=30 (http://www.diyfidelity.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=0_28&products_id=30), it's a DIY project but looks good on paper.

most probably i'll pair them with monitor audio bronze series speaker or tannoy mx series.

as for the cd-player i'll be using my computer with M-audio soundcard for now.

There is a lot of audio gear coming our way these days from China, some is Ok but a lot is crap. Not being able to hear these units would put me off, they are of unknown pedigree, quality etc. they may look like a 'real' valve amp but the circuit topology and transformer quality are critical so who know's what the unit on eBay may sound like.

One very reputable China based site is www.diyhifisupply.com (http://www.diyhifisupply.com) these guys have a strong reputation for quality and sound. Their products are sold as kits and marketed in the retail world as Consonance, a brand with a good reputation. You can build it yourself and customise the amps to suit your budget and taste. Of course hearing any of these amps prior to purchase is next to impossible so sticking to reputable brands is the way to go.

Yes they do, looking at that site again has re-kindled my interest in their ladyday SET amp. Its great value and if you select some of the tasty options, can be built with some very high quality compnents for not that much money. l have been curious for years about SE amps, just wished l could hear it in my system before buying.
